Future Manufacturers Accelerator Visits TRS’ Hvidovre Test Lab

7 July 2025

Testing and Reliability Services (TRS) recently welcomed the Future Manufacturers startup accelerator to our state-of-the-art electronics testing lab, where participants from Denmark’s growing hardware startup ecosystem gained first-hand insight into the process of taking a product from prototype to production.

The Future Manufacturers Accelerator initiative equips Danish hardware startups with the technical know-how and industry connections required to bring hardware products to market. The visit to the test facility was designed to provide a practical look at the steps involved in product compliancedesign validation, and CE marking, as well as what startups should prepare before engaging with a test house, development partner, or electronics manufacturer.

Focus on CE Marking, Test Planning & Scalable Hardware Design

During the session:

  • TRS’ Head of Department in Hvidovre, Jens Denborg, shared technical insights on key CE compliance tests and practical steps for startups to plan for regulatory requirements. Topics included EMC testingenvironmental simulations, and the typical timelines and documentation involved in CE marking.

  •  Martin Davidsen Kirkegaard, IoT Hardware & Operations Manager at Factbird provided a startup’s perspective, discussing lessons learned in early-stage hardware development, design for manufacturability (DFM), and scaling from proof-of-concept to batch production. His input helped bridge the gap between engineering theory and real-world product delivery.

  • EKTOS’ Director, Niels Martin Jørgensen, offered participants a structured checklist of what to prepare before reaching out to a test lab or contract manufacturer, including design files, compliance goals, project schedules, and cost frameworks. His guidance helped startups understand how to reduce risk, improve communication, and accelerate time to market.

Supporting the Hardware Startup Ecosystem

At EKTOS, we believe in strengthening the broader hardware development ecosystem through shared knowledge, transparent communication, and access to real-world lab infrastructure.

“Hosting the Future Manufacturers Accelerator aligns with our commitment to supporting innovative electronics startups at every stage from prototyping to regulatory approval and beyond,” said Mette Dam, Startup Advisor at EKTOS
